Our product standards are what set Harvest Market apart from a typical grocery store. When we look at bringing in a new product we first make sure it is free of a long list of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and otherwise completely unnecessary chemicals. Then, we make sure that it contains no ingredients that are at-risk for GMO contamination unless they are certified organic or the product has been verified by the Non-GMO project. (Currently ingredients at-risk for being genetically modified are corn, soy, canola, alfalfa, cotton, sugar beets, zucchinis and yellow squash.)

Because GMO contamination has steadily been creeping into otherwise “natural” food products since the mid 1990s, Harvest Market still stocks some of these “natural” GMO-containing foods. Our door is now closed, however, to new products containing possible genetically modified ingredients. We will continue to stock these products only as long as sales justify or until a better replacement product is located. view more
