So, how exactly does one get into the world of cheese and what goes into choosing cheeses for Harvest? Abby embarked on her journey into the world of professional cheese mongering in 2007, and a few short years later joined Harvest Market as our first ever cheese monger. When asked how she became interested in cheese, she states: My passion for artisanal cheese was sparked years ago when I first started working behind a cheese counter. I was fortunate enough to be trained by a welcoming and enthusiastic group of women ‘mongers who exposed me to flavors and textures I had never before experienced. I tasted everything, asked a million questions, and from then on sought out cheese books and cheese shops whenever and wherever I could. Having the opportunity to meet pioneering farmstead cheesemakers such as Sue Miller of Birchrun Hills Farm PA, and learn from them firsthand about their craft, has led me down a path of endless discovery.
