Little Goat Coffee Roasting Co.

Joe Lins and Olivia Brinton opened Little Goat Coffee in 2016, in the very historic small house on Haines Street that formerly was the home of both Switch skateboards and the Newark Co-op. The care that Joe and Olivia take in roasting their coffee beans has been rewarded by their designation as the best coffee shop in Delaware by bigseventravel.com.

That care is also evident in the packaging holding those beans for the seven varieties of Little Goat Coffee that we carry here at Harvest Market. Each bag is labeled with the bean’s growing region, roasting type and date as well as with tasting notes. Our coffee buyer, Adam’s, favorite bean is Ethiopia. Those beans—from the Guji region—are lightly roasted, releasing notes of watermelon, apricot and honeysuckle. For those who prefer a darker roast, Sumatra—from the Takengon region—asserts itself with the robustness of bakers’ chocolate, cedar and molasses.

Harvest Market also stocks Little Goat’s House Blend (not too dark), Nicaragua (darkish), Mexico (medium), Espresso (medium) and a decaf dark roast. The beans Little Goat sources are all organically grown and fair trade, but because their facility is not certified, these designations do not appear on their packaging.

It’s getting colder outside, so why not warm up with a cup of Little Goat Coffee today. Or pick up a cup at their Covid-friendly pick-up window at 16 Haines St. in Newark. Read more about their story here.
