Stryker Farm: Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania

Stryker Farm LogoHarvest Market is proud to offer a local source for heritage meats: the amazing Stryker Farm in Saylorsburg, PA. Located in the Poconos Mountains, Stryker Farm naturally raises heritage breed pork, grass-fed beef, goats, pastured eggs, and more. In addition to their extensive pork products, we carry Stryker’s Grass-fed Beef, Ground Goat and Ground Lamb that are GMO-free and antibiotic-free.

Heritage Breed Pork

Stryker pigs are a mix of Tamworth, Berkshire, Hereford, Gloucestershire Old Spot, Large Black and Yorkshire. These old-world breeds grow slower then conventional pigs resulting in a more flavorful pork. Pigs are raised outdoors and enjoy a natural diet of non-GMO grains and grasses without the use of antibiotics or hormones. Roaming in the great outdoors all day and all year long makes for several noticeable differences from commercial pork. The first thing you may notice is that this pork is a deeper, darker red color which is the result of the pig’s age, breed and diet. Stryker pork will also have more marbling and fat which aids in keeping the meat moist. The meat has a mild and pleasant flavor, and is available in several kinds of fresh sausage, as well as:

  • Stryker Farm PigsPork Tenderloin
  • Thick-Cut Chops
  • Baby Back Ribs
  • Ground Pork
  • Sliced Bacon
  • Irish Style Bangers
  • Micro-brewed Beer Bratwurst
  • Breakfast Sausage
  • Sweet Italian Sausage
  • Chorizo
  • Pork Hot Dogs
  • Pulled Pork with local Organic Bill’s BBQ Sauce

Farmer Nolan at Stryker Farm

Farmer Nolan Thevenet, pictured at left, jumped head first into farming in 2010 without any formal training or background in agriculture. His vision is to build Stryker Farm into a model for humane, natural and sustainable livestock farming. He also really enjoys wearing suspenders.
