Event Description

Celebrate the ancient art of food preservation at Historic Kennett‘s 2018 Fermentation Festival, presented by the Kennett Square Farmers Market on Friday, October 12th / 3–7pm. Enjoy ongoing educational opportunities with demonstrations by makers, “live” culture displays, plus tastings of fermented foods & beverages—including locally-produced yogurt, artisan cheeses, local vinegars, naturally-leavened breads, kombucha, miso soup, chocolate and more. Harvest Market will be providing samples of South River Miso and sharing recipes for using miso in your everyday life.

Maker demos will include sourdough process with Brandywine Valley Bread, kraut-making with Cucina Verde, plus a vinegar presentation with Keepwell Vinegar! Stay tuned here and historickennettsquare.com for the demo schedule & full lineup of vendors.

Culture & Recipe Swap: Do you ferment at home & have vigorous starter cultures you could share with others in the community? Bring them to the Market Info table, labeled in clean jars or ziplocks. HOW-TO & RECIPES are also part of the swap, with or without the starters.
