Bee Our Guest WrapsHow it All BEE-gan

Adriana and Peter Fitzgerald launched Bee Our Guest into the universe after being inspired by the abundance of biological life in Australia while on their plastic-free honeymoon. The ecosystems were diverse and healthy, and the Australians living within each varying environment had a profound respect for the power and majesty of nature. The need for preservation and conservation was an inherent and accepted part of living. Reduce, reuse, recycle systems were integral, operational, and the importance for sustainability was informed and intentional everywhere they went.

Shortly after their arrival into Sydney, Peter and Adriana made a pledge to one another that they would not buy or accept any single use plastic on their trip – including but not limited to plastic bottles and plastic bags. They drove their vehicle (naming her Blanco Prado) 13,582 km or nearly 8,500 miles on roads, highways, and gravel tracks without a cold beverage from a gas station fridge offering unlimited hydration options. Sounds quite difficult and impressive, doesn’t it?! After three weeks, they successfully completed their #plasticfree honeymoon challenge and needless to say, it changed their habits.

Once Adriana and Peter acknowledged single use plastic was something people reach to out of convenience, there was no going back! The inspiration behind Bee Our Guest beeswax wraps had been born!

Bee Our Guest WrapsWhy Beeswax Wraps?

Beeswax wraps naturally stick to the outer peel or skin of fruit, vegetables, and glass/dishware and make the perfect reusable covers for leftovers. Quality ingredients make better wraps, so they also stick to themselves. It’s easy to make baggies of varying size and purpose. No buttons, stitches, or gimmicks required.

Benefits of beeswax wraps over plastic bags and plastic cling:

  • 100% natural and biodegradable
  • Use a single beeswax wrap for up to 12 months
  • Easy clean with mild soap and cold water
  • Natural anti-bacterial ingredients from honeybees makes it safe and ideal for keeping food, cheese, bread fresh for longer
  • Support local businesses, farmers, and the bees at Swarmbustin’ Honey

Beeswax WrapHow to Care for Your Beeswax Wraps

Care is love! Here are some basic tips on how to care for your beeswax wraps:

  1. Avoid Heat. Beeswax is the special sauce working to keep food fresh naturally but it can melt so avoid heat.
  2. Mild Soap. Beeswax is naturally antibacterial, but mild soap can help rinse and clean the wraps.
  3. Cold Water. Only use cold water when cleaning and hang it on a dish rack to air dry.
  4. Do Not… Not recommended for use with raw meat or seafood.
