Harvest Market is about more than just great food, high quality nutritional supplements, body care products or environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. The owners and staff of Hockessin’s second largest grocery store also support organizations that further the company’s mission, both in our community and nationally.
ON A NATIONAL LEVEL, Harvest Market contributes to the following organizations: Cornucopia Institute, Independent Natural Food Retailers Association, Local Harvest, Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, Non-GMO Project and the Weston A. Price Foundation.
ON A LOCAL LEVEL, Harvest Market donates to the following organizations: Buy Fresh Buy Local, Delaware Nature Society and Coverdale Farm, GMO Free PA, Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids, Hockessin Business Association, Kennett Food Cupboard, Kennett Square Farmers Market, Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), New Garden Growers Market, Pike Creek Valley Running Club and The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County.
Last year, Harvest Market donated 7,200 pounds of food to the Kennett Food Cupboard and we regularly provide fruit and natural snacks to several charity races. Harvest Market proudly sponsors the Kennett Square Farmers Market and the New Garden Growers Market, as well as serving as a pick-up site for five local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms. Three days a week, we also offer the free health consultation services of Donna Merrill, our own Registered Nurse and Herbalist.
In short, 2016 was a great year to be your community grocer, and we are grateful to start 2017 with an optimistic heart and mind. We wish you a healthy and happy new year ahead!
